Tank Flush, Esperance WA

NPE were engaged by Carey MC to provide Dewatering and Environmental Management for the Berth 2 hardstand renewal, construction of flush tanks and installation of a dissolved metal treatment filter system at Southern Ports’ Port of Esperance.

NPE began with the development of the Dewatering Management Plan to align with the conditions required by the Southern Ports Authority.

After strict security checks (MSIC) and inductions NPE mobilised the personnel, drilling equipment and dewatering equipment to the Esperance Port on the 23rd of January.

The Guys on site did a great job drilling 5 production bores, 1 x monitoring well and installing the pumps, generators, flow meters and the poly ring main. They operated on a very tight time frame which allowed Carey MC to return to the original schedule after losing time during the piling due to difficult ground conditions.

NPE achieved the adequate draw down which allowed Carey MC to excavate down to invert. The concrete blinding has been poured and the first base slab is due to be poured in the coming days. The excavation ( supported by sheet piles) is approximately 12m x 14m x 7m deep. The current groundwater draw down is around 5m allowing sufficient compaction and dry working conditions.

NPE Continue to monitor the dewatering and environmental quality with weekly lab samples and on site testing every other day. The dewatering is scheduled to run for a total of 10-12 weeks.

The personnel on site have received great feedback from Carey MC.
