South Perth Police Station Project

Dewatering systems at the South Perth Police Station Project.

NPE were engaged by Builden for the design, supply, install and operation of Dewatering systems at the South Perth Police Station Project.

The site is located at 1 Mends Street, South Perth and contains the Heritage listed Old Police Station. The new hospitality venue will be equipped with a basement restaurant dining section as well as a new fit out to the internal and external areas of the Police Station.

NPE were required to lower the water table 1.5m for the below basement plumbing, lift core and basement slab.

We used wellpoint dewatering systems while the basement was being excavated & then switched to a sacrificial (buried) wellpoint system below the basement. This allowed the client to install water proofing, form work, steel and concrete without interacting with any of the dewatering equipment. This also eliminated having several penetrations through the slab and the risk of leaks after completion.
The dewatering effluent had to be passed through a silt trap and then boosted through a series of hoses and pipe work through the storm water network (under Mends st) to a sewer discharge point 200m away.
For the duration of the project NPE also provided Environmental monitoring as it is quite a sensitive area, adjacent to the Swan River.
